PlanetShoes Get Fit for Fall 6-Week Challenge & My Fitness Goals!

When I turned 40, nearly two years ago, one of the first promises I made to myself was that I would not only make my health a priority, but that I would also focus on improving my overall fitness by challenging myself to achieve some goals that have been lingering in the back of my mind for quite some time, like for example running my first half marathon. More on that later because I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.

I’ve most definitely become more active by walking a lot, running several miles a week and even playing a little tennis with my husband. I especially love to run outside with the hot sun beating down on me, but I’m also extremely grateful to have a treadmill in my living room because when the weather gets cooler here in the Northeast I prefer to workout inside. Speaking of cooler weather, today is officially the first day of fall so I figured it would be a great time to share a fun challenge with you! Before you get all snuggled up in a blanket all cozy on the couch I have a better idea to give you a little jump-start toward your own fitness goals! I’m thrilled to announce that I’m a member of PlanetShoes’ Soul Sisters Team and I hope I can convince you to join us for the Get Fit for Fall Challenge! What is the Get Fit for Fall Challenge, you ask? Let me fill you in!

Get Fit for Fall is an online campaign challenging YOU to accomplish your fitness goals! Whether it be completing a 5k or finishing 10 pushups, it’s finally time to conquer your personal exercise woes with the help of PlanetShoes and your fellow fitness fanatics. The six-week challenge begins September 9th. Contestants that complete the challenge and meet their goal will be entered to win a $500 gift card to PlanetShoes!

What I really love about the Get Fit4Fall challenge is that it doesn’t matter what your goal is, it just matters that you set one and then look to us Sole Sisters and fellow challenge members to help motivate and encourage you to achieve them. My personal goal is to run a 5K (two weeks from today) and then a 10K (YIKES) at the end of October. Some days my goal is to simply get through a walk or run without the need to ice every body part after I’m done, but for me there is something truly special about crossing a finish line. Whether it be one painted on the road at the end of a race or one on the calendar that signifies the completion of the Get Fit for Fall Challenge, it is an accomplishment worth celebrating!
