Product Review: Glass Dharma Straws

A while back I decided to enter a contest over at EcoOfficeGals for some glass straws from Glass Dharma. I personally don’t use straws very often, but the kids do so I thought this would be a fun way to have some straws that were NOT plastic!! Let’s face it, most people don’t reuse their plastic straws and they just get thrown away to sit in the landfill for who knows how many years! After a few days I got the email that I had won!! I was thrilled and got to choose the straws that I wanted(I was given a dollar amount that I could spend). They have some really cool designs to choose from such as the simple sipping straw in both regular length and extra long, the beautiful bend(great if you like an angled straw), and my personal favorite and the ones I chose, the decorative dots. I got to choose the color of the “dots” for each straw and thought this was perfect so we could all keep track of whose glass is whose just by the color of our dots!! Brilliant! The choosing doesn’t stop there. I also had to choose what size of a straw I wanted as in sipper, ice tea, smoothie, bubble tea. Phew! So many decisions and so much fun! I went with the “sipper” size and am pleased! They are perfect for any beverage we choose to drink and the straws come individually wrapped in their own box(and I even got a little cleaning brush, too). Oh, and did I mention, Glass Dharma offers a Lifetime Guarantee against breakage on their straws!! How cool is that?! Now, I am not saying to go out and “test” them on the cement or anything, but what a nice added bonus from a company that obviously cares about the environment. Here’s a bit from their website about why they decided to create a line of glass straws:

I created my own line of glass drinking straws and this website to contribute one solution to the misuse of plastics in our society.

Everyone that has seen these straws are filled with delight. Not just because they promote health and are environmentally friendly, but that they do these things with class and style.

Plain and simple, here’s how and why they work:

Glass straws don’t leach toxins into your food as you drink.
Each time you use your glass straw equals one less plastic straw ending up in your landfill.
One glass straw replaces thousands of plastic straws. (How many times will you use a straw the rest of your life?)
Using your glass drinking straw adds a feeling of beauty to your day.
GlassDharma glass drinking straws are:

So you can use your non-toxic straws with confidence.

(Why do we do this?)

Hand-made in the U.S.A.
Buying from GlassDharma means that your dollar is not going off-shore – it stays right here in the U.S.A.

My personal favorite from above is “handmade in the U.S.A.” So, whether you want the kids to have some fun drinking straws or if you want to sip a grown-up cocktail with a chic and elegant straw, Glass Dharma is definitely worth the look(and the purchase)! Happy Sipping!
