Brightech Floor Lamp Review & The Best USB Table Lamp

When we bought our home a couple years ago there were some things I loved about it and there were some things I decided I could live with since I felt the positives outweighed the negatives. For example, we’re in the middle of the city and I love that we have a decent sized yard that’s completely fenced in. On the other hand, our street is super busy all day long, which is something I’m still not used to and often drives me a little crazy.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary lamp to facilitate this review and this post might contain affiliate links, but no monetary compensation was provided and all opinions and attempts at humor are my own.

While I appreciate newer homes I fell in love with the character of this older house of ours. The ceilings are high, there’s a cozy wood-burning fireplace in the corner of our living room (that part is a little annoying), there’s funky built-in storage, and one of my favorite things is the 3-season sun porch. That also happens to be the cat’s favorite place to hang out most of the day, especially when it’s sunny. He’s no dummy.

I’m guessing we can all agree that plumbing and electricity are two important things to look at and consider when purchasing a new home, right? We certainly did and let’s just say the plumbing has given us some trouble here and there, but the electrical work has never let us down. Well, that’s not completely true. While the electrical work is great, there are some areas of our home sadly lacking in actual electrical outlets and/or lighting. Like, in one room there might be six outlets, whereas our upstairs hallway has none. You might think that’s no big deal, but it definitely makes vacuuming up there a bit challenging. The other thing we have desperately needed is overhead lighting, especially in our dining room. It has two wall sconces that certainly make for an intimate dining experience, but simply don’t provide enough light to enjoy regular family dinners, play a board game, or put a puzzle together. We discussed installing some type of chandelier, but that type of work is a bit more technical than my husband wanted to attempt so we’ve just lived with the dim lighting for nearly two years.

The Best Floor Lamp for a Dining Room

When the folks at Brightech reached out to me a few months ago I was pretty excited. They offered me the opportunity to try any lamp on their website in exchange for an honest review. That sounds like an awesome and generous offer, right? Well, it was, but it was also really difficult because I’m pretty sure I could find a place in my home for any of the lamps on their website. There are so many gorgeous styles to choose from and literally something to suit any need you might have. To say my decision was tough would be a gross understatement, but then it totally hit me! The dining room. In the past I never would have considered a lamp for a dining room, but as I was browsing the Brightech floor lamps I narrowed in on the Mason Arc Floor Lamp because of it’s modern look and long telescoping arm. I was still a little skeptical since we have a pretty large table and I wasn’t really sure if it could arc like we needed it to while also not getting in the way when we walk around the room. Let’s just say that my husband is over six feet tall and both my sons are nearly his height and they can all walk under the arm without any trouble. I mean, no crouching, no worry, no problem. It’s almost like this particular lamp was made for our dining room and our (mostly) tall family.

Here are are a few of my favorite features of this gorgeous floor lamp:

  1. The marble base. It adds a touch of sophistication while also providing sturdy stability. We were able to slide it out of the way just enough so nobody stubs a toe on their way by (because OUCH), but not too much so we can’t appreciate how pretty is on our floor.
  2. The on/off button. No, really. I realize an on/off switch isn’t usually something to get excited about, but in this case I love this one. We don’t need to bend over awkwardly to find a switch on the cord because it’s actually an extra large button that sits on the floor and can be turned on or off with a simple tap of your foot.
  3. The 9.5 Watt power-saving LED light, which means we never need to replace the bulb! I don’t know about you, but buying light bulbs is one of my least favorite things so this feature is pretty darn awesome, especially since it will save us money and energy for many years to come.

Do you have a space in your home that needs to be freshened up with a touch of light? If you’re like my husband you’ll covet these string lights that could add a magical vibe and maybe even a little romance to your porch or patio. I’ll admit, I think they’d be a lovely addition to our back yard, especially since they’re lightweight and weatherproof. Did I already mention that you can get 15% off your first order if you join the Brightech mailing list? I mean, at the very least you should scoot on over to their website and take a look around. When I say there’s literally a lamp for any space in your home I’m not kidding. Like, this table lamp would be perfect for my son’s bedroom because it has a built-in USB charging port for his phone! Heck, who am I kidding? I think I want that lamp for my bedside table. And just because I have been shopping around for new side tables for our living room, of course they have one that’s perfect for our family. Not only does this one have a drawer and a shelf, but again with the built-in USB port(s)? Seriously. Where has this lamp been all my life? If there’s one thing that drives me crazy, it’s having to reach around the couch to plug in my phone or laptop, but with this lamp that problem would be solved.

Sorry. I got a little carried away there for a minute because clearly new lamps get me a little excited. What can I say? I don’t get out much and since I’m at home most of the time I should obviously have the best lighting possible, right?
