A Plea to the Famous Tweeters!

Earlier today I interjected my way(sort of) into a conversation with @typeamom and @resourcefulmom on Twitter. They were discussing bloggers and the value we should have and not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of by companies. I feel even though I have been on Twitter for about a year, I am still sort of feeling my way around, but at the same time, I am getting the hang of it and building some great relationships. When famous types like these two ladies take the time to have a conversation with me, I feel pretty honored. I call them famous because they both have a huge following and I consider them both at the top of my list for successful Twitter gals and I may just go ga-ga to meet either of them in real life. Oh, don’t laugh at me. I have met Bob Barker and Dr. Phil, but Kelby and Amy….true celebrities!

For them, it may have just seemed like another conversation among many they had today, but to me, it was important. I wonder if one or both of them remember when they were still new at Twitter with less than 1000 followers(like me) and wanted to interact with more established folks? Did someone take the time or just blow them off because they couldn’t be bothered to have a discussion with such a newbie? I am sure they both go: “who the heck is this @frugalgirl?” “Is she even really frugal?” I guess the main message and request I would like to convey here is to ask those of you who are up there among the “Twitter elite” to please reach out to those of us who are newer at this and may need some advice because if you think really hard you can probably remember what is was like…..can’t you? After all, when it comes down to it, the only true difference between us is that you probably make more money than me and you probably have PR people approaching you rather than being like me….begging them to send me something….anything.
