Last week at this time I was preparing to leave for what would be one of the most amazing experiences of my entire life, but before I talk about that I’d like to back up a few weeks to the phone call that freaked my freak and brought tears to my eyes. I was minding my business and working out on the treadmill, something I’ve been doing a lot of lately, when I received a private message requesting my availability to take a call from the folks at Kohl’s. I was curious and a little excited since Kohl’s is a brand I love and would enjoy working with as a blogger. I finished my workout as the wheels in my brain turned as quickly as my feet took steps on the treadmill, looking forward to learning more about why someone at Kohl’s wanted to speak to little ol’ me. I wasn’t really prepared for what they had to say and I honestly wasn’t even sure I was hearing the woman on the other end of my phone correctly. She used words like inspiring as she told me the team at Kohl’s wanted to support me in my wellness journey. I’ve got to tell you how much those words alone meant to me. See, there are days as a blogger when I’m not sure that what I’m doing is making a difference. I’m not sure if it’s necessarily the right thing for me or that anyone is actually paying attention, so it brought tears to my eyes to hear that someone is following along and the fact that someone happens to be a huge brand like Kohl’s has honestly given me a whole new appreciation for them as a company. They wanted to support me in my journey to being healthy and fit and they wanted to show their support in a huge way. They invited me (and a friend) to take the trip of a lifetime and as I sit here just a few days after arriving back home from our whirlwind wellness retreat I’m still not sure the entire adventure has completely sunk in, but I know I was there because I have a few pictures to prove it and I’d love to share some of them with you as well as some of the incredible treats we experienced along the way. Please know I don’t share any of this to brag, but instead I’d love to for it to be something that motivates and/or inspires you to keep doing what you’re doing because when you focus on what you love, good things will come.
When my aunt and I arrived in Santa Monica, California we were greeted with a stunning view and gift bags filled with healthy goodies, including a Gaiam yoga mat and yoga bag and a water bottle that were all going to come in handy the following morning when we took a yoga class on the beach with the fabulous Tianna of Cardyoga. FYI, while you can’t beat the surroundings of yoga on the beach it is definitely a bit more challenging than a traditional yoga class due to the sand. But challenging is good when you’re exercising, right? Also, future yoga classes I attend will pale in comparison because seriously, yoga on the beach!! Honestly Kohl’s, you spoiled us…..in a really good way, but little did we know how much more you had in store for us.
I can’t think of a better way to begin a retreat focused on health and wellness than doing yoga on a sandy beach in Southern California. In case you’re wondering, YES, it is just as incredible as it looks and sounds. I could literally stare at these photos all day long because they remind me of peace, calm, and focus. Maybe they can do a little of the same for you. Namaste.
I love yoga on the beach, but we only get about 3 months of summer here in Massachusetts to do it. I am looking forward to June.
It’s the same here in Maine, Robin, so I definitely loved the chance to escape to California for a couple of blissful days.
I do love yoga and its party of my workout. Stopped by from team work blogging thread

I’m sitting on the couch in less than 20 degree weather feeling like a frozen couch potato I’m am so happy for you and envious, too.
Thank you so much, Susan! I left right after a blizzard and returned just before another snowstorm here in the Northeast so I understand the cold weather and snuggling up on the couch. Hopefully this means we’re all earning a really GREAT summer this year.
It must be so exciting that Kohls reached out to you, what a great opportunity… plus you got to Travel. Keep sharing

The setting is about as perfect as it gets, Liz, but the sand definitely adds a bit of a challenge. A good challenge. 😉
If you’re going to do Yoga, where better than the beach? I think this would be awesome.
