I have to tell you that coconut oil has become an absolute staple in my home. From baking and frying with it in the kitchen( I even used it once or twice to make popcorn) to all over skincare in the bathroom, it is so wonderful for your skin and can be substituted for traditional oil in many recipes. When Tropical Traditions offered to send me a jar of their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil to try, I was more than willing and thrilled. What pleased me even more was that it was USDA Organic….a symbol I love to see on products I bring home for my family. As a bonus, they also sent me a copy of the book “Virgin Coconut Oil” by Brian and Marianita Jader Shilhavy. It is a great resource with wonderful stories about how coconut oil has changed the lives of many people and there are even many recipes included in the book. What I like is that when I choose to use coconut oil in recipes it doesn’t give a strong coconut flavor. In warmer weather(about 76 degrees or higher) it becomes a liquid and I like to mix the liquid with some orange essential oil and slather on my skin and the skin of my children. The smell is yummy and our skin looks great! When the temperature is cooler the coconut oil is in a more solid state and could be added to your diet by the spoonful, put into a smoothie, mixed in with your oatmeal, and I have even fed it to my dogs.(they LOVE the flavor). From the Tropical Traditions website, here is a great video/interview:

I have been told I should try Coconut Oil to help with my seriously irritated skin and my husbands ichtheosis. I have been looking for a local store to carry cold pressed organic coconut oil (to reduce its carbon foot print) and as of yet haven't had much luck.
I have only ever thought of CO for moisturizer and hair product, but I suppose it might be good for food. We make our popcorn in peanut oil, so I think I would like to try coconut oil.
I like your idea of adding it to smoothies b/c I drink a lot of them. I also like how their website describes that "when itโs heated it wonโt create toxic trans fatty acids", so I would like to try cooking with it too.
Thanks for offering such a great giveaway!!
