While at BlogHer this summer I got the chance to meet representatives from Microsoft Hohm. I wasn’t sure what they were all about, but they certainly peaked my green curiosity with what their product could offer for my family. A way to monitor energy use/consumption in your home, in real time. I like the idea of this, although I think we could get a little obsessive, keeping track of usage and costs could be great for my utility bill. A while after I returned from BlogHer I received an email from Microsoft Hohm asking if I’d be interested in trying their Power Cost Monitor with Wifi from Blue Line. I immediately said yes and told them how I thought something like this might benefit my family and our budget, plus keep us aware of our energy usage on a daily basis. My only question/concern was that we live in a duplex and I wasn’t sure if we’d get accurate results. They responded to say it would work just fine as long as we have our own electricity meter, which we do. So I told them I’d love to try it out.
Then I got a more intriguing email from them. They wanted to profile a few influential green women bloggers in a list for their blog and for their Facebook page and wondered if I might be interested in participating. They included a survey to fill out if I was interested expressing that they would love to include me. I answered the questions and returned the email with my responses. Here’s the amazing list of women I am among:
I finally made a list

You see that number? I got a 63 out of a possible 100. Probably not too impressive for someone who claims to be a green blogger, right? ? Or maybe I just didn’t want to make everyone else look bad, you know, discourage them in any way. Yeah, I’m so unselfish like that. I simply hate the spotlight. Here’s the thing, having a number like that just means there is plenty of room for improvement and I like a challenge so I can’t wait to work toward improving my score. Have you taken the quiz to see what your hohm score is? Try it here by simply starting with your street address or postal code. What’s your score? Is it better than mine? Wait, don’t tell me…..I don’t really wanna know, unless it’s lower, so I can point and laugh at you cheer you on to improve your family’s energy usage.
Thanks so much to Microsoft Hohm for this fun opportunity!
