My very first vehicle as a teenager was a Ford Fairmont. She was lovingly named Bertha by several of my girlfriends and was ever reliable to get us around when we had places to go and people to see. There were leather seats and a tape deck and four doors, other than that, it wasn’t a flashy car by any stretch, but she was mine. That’s what mattered more than anything to me. I have since had a certain loyalty to Ford and their vehicles, having driven several over the course of the last twenty years. Buying American-Made products is a big deal to me and I make it a priority as much as possible. When I received an invitation from the fabulous Clever Girls Collective to attend the Ford Green Driving Technology Event at the North American International Auto Show(NAIAS) next week, I was beyond thrilled. I get to combine my love for an auto company with my passion for living green for a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I simply jumped at the chance and I can’t wait to board my plane on Sunday to head to Detriot for this amazing event.
Some of the highlights I’m told to expect are:
- A visit to Ford Motor Company’s World Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan
- Meet with Ford Executives for informal Q & A sessions
- A visit to Ford’s River Rouge Factory
- A tour of Ford’s Green Roof
- A driving experience on Ford’s test track
It promises to be an amazing experience with so much more on my agenda and I can’t wait to share it with everyone as I absorb it all first hand with only 99 other green, tech, and lifestyle bloggers from 10 countries around the world. We will all be sharing on Twitter with the hashtag #FordGreen. Follow along with the hashtag if you can and tweet me with any questions you might have for the executives. I will do my best to get them answered for you!
Disclosure: I was invited to participate in this program by Clever Girls Collective, Inc. in partnership with Ford and Ogilvy PR. Ford Motor Company paid for my travel and accommodations at the 2-day Driving Green Technology event, I was not compensated in any other manner for my time. My opinions posted here are my own.
