Election Day 2014 – Photo Proof I Voted & I Married a Goofball

I have never been the type of person who believed you must vote on Election Day. I do, however, adamantly believe that if you don’t vote you don’t get to complain about the results. When I was in my early twenties (a long, long time ago) I didn’t follow politics or know enough about what/who was on the ballot to feel compelled to vote. I realize there are many people out there who believe it’s our civic duty to vote and while I agree to a certain extent I don’t think a person should simply go through the motions of voting if they haven’t taken the time to educate themselves on the politicians or other issues on a ballot. Basically, I’m not going to guilt you or make you feel bad if you choose not to vote.

Election Day 2014

As I’ve gotten older and maybe a bit more mature I’ve come to realize that every vote really does count and it also feels pretty darn good to exercise my right as a United States citizen because there are so many people across the world who don’t have the same privilege as we do here. So today I drove the approximate mile to my polling place, took the ballot in my hand, and carefully considered every little oval I colored in before proudly sliding it into the voting machine. And then I was given a sticker, which I immediately stuck on my chest and made Paul pose with me for a photo. Here’s proof: (You’re Welcome)

P.S. Our votes pretty much cancel each other out, but we still vote because it’s the right thing to do. I mean it’s the correct thing to do. See what I did there?

How about you? Did you vote today?
