These are a few of my favorite green brands

I was trying to think of some year-end posts that I’d like to write, but honestly I’ve been enjoying the lazy time of Christmas vacation with my kids and I’ve barely touched my computer.  There are some things that I have to share with you, though.  Today I want to start with a few of my most favorite green companies that I got to work with, simply love their products or, among the most awesome, got to meet in person.

  1. Seed  – I heard about Seed at the beginning of 2010 when a gal I followed on Twitter shared a contest she (and a couple of her friends) were hosting for a chance to win a partial sponsorship to BlogHer2010 in New York City.  The sponsor was Seed and I was curious.  I was curious because from everything I saw initially, they represented everything that mattered to me – healthy, non-toxic skincare products.  I purchased a few products, tried them, loved them.  Truly, Seed is one of my favorites ever.  I have their lotion bottles throughout my home and their Healthy Hand Cream by my bedside.  It’s the last thing I do every night before I climb into bed, slather my hands and forearms in the rich goodness.  Remember, our skin is the largest organ in the body so it’s very important to treat it well and with the lowest amount of toxins possible.  That’s why I love Seed. (the owners are pretty fantastic, too.)
  2. Earth Divas – I was contacted by Earth Divas last summer.  They wondered if I’d like to try one of their bags and maybe host a giveaway on my blog.  I’m so glad they did because their bags are amazing.  With Fair Trade the utmost priority, their bags are created with the most sustainable of materials by artisans who are paid fairly for their work.  Earth Divas cares about these women, they care about the environment, and they care about us, the consumers, because customer service is also one of their highest priorities!
  3. Equal Exchange – Fair trade coffee, tea, and chocolate.  Need I say more?  Okay, fine.  I have always been very impressed with Equal Exchange.  I love their coffee.  Not only because it is organic and produced by farmers who are paid decent wages, but also because the flavor is amazing.  We have also tried their tea, cocoa, and chocolates and the flavor and quality is top-notch.  They truly represent fair trade, superb quality and wonderful customer service.  Give their products a try and you won’t be disappointed.
  4. zkano –  Organic cotton socks.  Enough said.  Seriously, though, of all the socks I have owned, zkano’s are the best ever.  They are soft, cozy, and well made, but the biggest reason they are at the top of my list of favorite brands is because of the owner.  She is simply wonderful and approachable and engaging.  Oh, I almost forgot one of the most important traits that I love about this company.  Their socks are manufactured in the United States, which is a passion they simply aren’t willing to compromise.
  5. Saxsy Stuff –  What kind of a green girl would I be without a really good collection of reusable shopping bags?  My favorite bags that I take with me everywhere are from Saxsy Stuff.  If the name doesn’t draw you in, the quality and commitment to green should.  They are made of 100% cotton fabric making them easy to stuff into your purse, meaning there’s no excuse to forget them at home.  I love that variety of fun styles and the size of these bags.  If we are going to commit to reusable shopping bags, shouldn’t they at least be stylish and fun?  From food shopping to clothes shopping, I love my Saxsy Stuff bags!

This is a list of the brands that quickly came to mind when I decided to write this post.  I know there are several others, but these are the ones I needed to share and I hope you will check them all out and maybe find them on Twitter or Facebook.  Because I said so.
