Non-Toxic Bathtub Cleaner that Really Works

Homemade Bathtub Cleaner

One of the best ways to be green and save money at the same time is to make some of your own cleaning mixtures at home.  Some of the most toxic things you can bring into your home are harsh chemical filled cleaning products.  Notice that they pretty much all say to use in a ventilated area?  What does that tell you?  It tells you that you really shouldn’t be breathing in the fumes because they could be harmful to your lungs or your brain or your body as a whole.

Here is my favorite recipe for a tub cleaner that you can use and not worry about breathing it into your body!

  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons castile soap(I use peppermint)
  • About 20-25 drops of your favorite essential oil – lemon, orange, or lavender would be great for a bathroom cleaner.

Mix together in a small bowl – it should be smooth like a paste.  Enjoy the smell while you scrub.  I promise the only thing you will cause any “harm” to is your muscles from working a little harder at scrubbing.  Honestly, though, is that really a bad thing?

  1. Thanks for sharing the recipe! I usually use one of the "green" cleaners but I always wanted to try and make my own!

In all honesty, I don't even clean the tub all that often, but love that I can just whip this up in no time….great arm workout, too. 🙂
