Lunapanties – Review and Giveaway

I know you’ve probably all been waiting on the edge of your seats for me to write a green post.  I mean I couldn’t possibly just leave that behind completely, right?  Wait.  I bet you’ve actually been wondering when the heck I was going to write another green post about feminine products.  Well, unless you’re my favorite uncle, in which case he’s probably trying to get off of this screen as quickly as he can only his computer froze and he is stuck here when I’m about to talk about girls and their periods, which is a really good reason that family should never visit your blog to begin with, right?

So I know I’ve gone on before about how much I love Lunapads and how they’ve magically transformed my period.  Wait, it’s chocolate that does that.  Sorry Lunapads, I love you and all, but you just can’t work that kind of magic.  However, you can make me feel like I’m having a little fun with the cool and funky fabric designs that you offer and knowing that I’m not spending money on crappy disposables that only add mountains to the landfill is pretty fantastic, so you rock pretty darn big in my world!  Just when I was going along month to month all pleased with my variety of Lunapads, they went and created Lunapanties.  You know how during that time of the month when all you want to do is climb into bed, curl up in the fetal position, and wish that a man could experience this type of joy for just five minutes of his life?  When you just want a little comfort and something to ease the cramps and bloating?  Well, that’s just one of the things I loved about the Lunapanties.  I mean we all know we have those panties set aside that we try to only wear during our period.  Well, Lunapanties are perfect.

From the Lunapads site:

Lunapanties are an innovative hybrid of underwear and Lunapads that have a fleece gusset panel permanently sewn in, making them an all-in-one replacement for disposable Pads and Pantyliners.  Made from 95% Organic Cotton and 5% Lycra for a smooth, snug fit.

Lunapanties make great everyday underwear, and can also be used for light to average flow or as backup protection with The DivaCup. Brief, Bikini and Hipster styles include a Maxi or Long Liner Insert to adjust absorbency.

Seriously, I can’t express how snuggled you’ll feel when wearing Lunapanties, leaving you feeling well protected and giving your tummy a bit of extra support when you’re feeling so bloated and yucky and wishing you had a heating pad to ease the discomfort. Just me? Well, lucky you if you float by every month feeling like dancing on clouds and turning cartwheels wearing your best pair of white yoga pants, but that is not the case for this girl. I need extra love, my heating pad, chocolate, warm tea, chocolate, and my Lunapads and Lunapanties.

On a more serious note, are you aware of the amount of waste generated when you use disposable products? From tampons, to bulky pads and pantyliners, not to mention if you wrap them in something before dropping them into the wastebasket, the enormous about you’re contributing to the landfill is not only toxic, but also expensive.  I promise it’s way easier to get past the eww factor when you do a little math and realize just how much you spend on your feminine products over the course of a year. Also, come on. If you’re a woman who has ever changed a diaper, especially a cloth diaper, or cleaned up after a sick child, I’m pretty confident you can handle this.

I truly love the freedom I feel knowing that I always have my arsenal on hand when my gal pal Flo decides to make her monthly return. I would love to think she’s gotten the message over all these years that she’s just not welcome in my girl parts, but alas, she has other plans. So, no mad rush to the store because I ran out at the end of my last period and procrastinated picking up the necessities before the next one. I have peace of mind that I can simply reach into my handy little storage bag that’s especially for my stuff and I’m ready to go for another round with the joy of being a girl once more. I usually rotate between my Diva Cup, and my Lunpanties with Lunapads. All super easy to use and clean and store.  Healthy for your body, the environment, and your wallet.

LunaPads reposted the giveaway and I was excited! Have only recently begun looking into eco-friendly and body-friendly menstrual products, and it seems like LunaPads are some of the best. The only thing I’m nervous about is finding a college friendly way to soak and wash cloth pads, but to feel better and finally be healthier, it’s a challenge I’d happily accept!

  2. I have the Divacup and love it. I would love to try the Lunapanties as well.

  3. already use cloth and cups, but would LOVE to try the Lunapanties!! :o)

    Thanks for the chance

  17. Hi!, I own a few bunch of lunapads and I love love love them!!, They reallly are much better than disposable pads for me, I haven’t used any other pad for my periods for two years or more and they are in really good condition. However, I don’t have any lunapanties and I’d love to try them out!

  19. SilentAJ on Twitter – you’ve been followed.

I’ve wanted Lunapanties to back up my DivaCup for literally years, and have just never had the disposable income at the same time as a way to spend online. My cup and liners (I got the cute combo pack) are the best things to happen to my period EVER, I just still need that extra support for overnights.

I know what you mean about having a pair of undies for that time of the month. It would be fantastic for the pad to be IN the panties. I think Lunapanties is a great idea! Thanks for the opportunity to win one 🙂 Happy Earth Day!

  41. Katelin N. says

I want to try these! I really like the idea of not having to worry about ruining my “nice” underwear (though these are pretty cute themselves!)

  42. I use and LOVE my Lunapads, but have not tried the Lunapanties. I would love to try them! But let me let you in on a little secret: (I’m a little scared of them). Can Lunapanties handle my heaviest days? After all, I never carry “back-up” panties with me. I would love to test them out:)

  43. I would love to have a pair of Lunapanties to go along with my Diva Cup, I would be able to stop using disposable pantyliners as my peace-of-mind backup and could use a reusable product instead.

  44. Facebook name: Nora L-K

    I posted on Lunapad’s wall. 🙂

  45. I’m interested in trying the lunapanties because I recently got one of their liners as cup backup and am just switching to cloth.

  46. twitter @jkyww

i’d love to try because i just realized how many pads/liners I go through and get this: there are five females in my household. whoa that’s a lotta money!!

  47. posted on their FB wall too 🙂

definitely need to get me some of these goodies.

  48. I would love to try them so that I never run out in the middle of the night again

  49. I want to try because I hate the thought of all the menstraul supplies I have been using in landfill and what its doing to the plant

  50. Okay, so, I would actually try these. I don’t actually menstruate much but for those panty liner days I would love something like this (especially because some days I have to change panty liners a LOT). I’m not convinced about all of these “green” feminine hygiene products so I’d love to test it out before purchasing…

  51. Reboloke says

I already follow you on twitter (I’m @Reboloke).

I want to try lunapanties, because I love my diva cup and not having to use disposable pads, but the cup is annoying to use when my flow gets really light at the end of my period or when I get spotting, so I still end up using disposable panty liners and would like to change that.
